Recently, you may have seen on the news something about ACHD approving its Five-Year Work Plan, which lays out building projects from 2020 thru 2024. The plan provides the schedule for design, right-of-way acquisition, construction, as well as the estimated costs for those items.
The plan gives the description of the State Street-Pierce Park Projects as: “Widen intersection to 4 lanes (Pierce Park) and 7 lanes (State), including sidewalk/buffered bike lane (north) and pathway (south), median and bus pullouts as per the State Street Transit and Traffic Operations Plan.”
You can view the project description or full plan at the links below:
The right-of-way (property) acquisition is scheduled for 2019-2020 with construction in 2021. This timeline is in accordance with what we’ve been hearing all along. ACHD completed the design of the intersection in the 2018-2019 fiscal year. However, with the revised entryway into Plantation the design will need to be revised. Glass Creek, LLC and ACHD will need to complete their agreement to revised the intersection by mid-December 2019 for the planned schedule to be met. That agreement is pending but expected to be completed on time.
In summary, we expect construction on the intersection to begin in ACHD’s fiscal year 2021, which begins in October 2, 2020.
Our next email will address the upcoming election of two Garden City City Council members being held November 5, 2019.
